Meet our speaker!

Dr. Morris is a pediatric cardiologist at Texas Children’s Hospital/Baylor College of Medicine, and has specialized training in cardiovascular imaging, fetal cardiology, epidemiology, and clinical research design and analysis. She has a strong interest in understanding modifiable risk factors for children with congenital heart disease and genetically mediated cardiovascular disease, and her experience has focused on rigorously evaluating outcomes in pediatric heart disease. She currently serves as the Medical Director of Cardiovascular Genetics and the Medical Director of Fetal Cardiology at Texas Children’s Hospital.

The focus of much of her work is on heritable aortic disease in the young, including Marfan Syndrome, Loeys-Dietz syndrome, Vascular Ehlers-Danlos syndrome, and other rare and ultrarare genetic disorders. As part of her research in this field, she developed a novel and reproducible method of measuring vertebral artery tortuosity that is strongly associated with early surgery, dissection, and death in young patients with aortic disease. Her overarching goal is to better understand and modify outcomes in these young patients to allow them to live the healthiest and happiest lives possible.
