About the Showcase

The Arizona Student Film Showcase is a statewide festival created to celebrate Arizona’s high school filmmakers and the stories they bring to life. We showcase original student films of any genre in a real theater, giving young creators the opportunity to experience what it feels like to see their work on the big screen and share it with a community that believes in them.

After launching our first showcase, we’re continuing to grow into a space where student filmmakers can connect, take creative risks, and have their work recognized. Our showcase values storytelling, creativity, and vision over budget or professional resources, because every student deserves the opportunity to have their voice heard.

With our second year, we’re expanding our community partnerships, creating more opportunities for student involvement, and continuing to build an event that celebrates every part of film making. More than a screening or an awards night, AZSFS is about confidence, connection, creativity, and reminding young filmmakers that their stories matter right now.

About the Founders

The Arizona Student Film Showcase began with a simple idea: Arizona’s high school filmmakers deserved a real place to share their work.

As a student filmmaker, Mikayla Jackson saw how difficult it could be for young creators to find opportunities to have their films taken seriously. Instead of waiting for that opportunity to come along, she decided to create it. Together, Mikayla and our team built AZSFS into a space where students can put their work on a real theater screen, connect with others who share their passion, and experience what it means to have their creativity celebrated.

After our first year, we saw firsthand how meaningful this opportunity can be for young filmmakers. Now, we’re building on that foundation for our second year — reaching more students, growing our community partnerships, and creating an even bigger platform for Arizona’s next generation of filmmakers.
