What is Artdillo Studios?

Artdillo Studios is more than an arts school or a place to take classes. Our studio functions as a vibrant community hub where people create not in isolation, but in the presence of others with shared curiosity, practice, and purpose. It is a space where youth—especially those who are incredibly talented but introverted—find belonging, confidence, and friendships through making art together. For many participants, our programs provide a rare respite outside of work and home; a place of healing, safety, creativity and self-empowerment amid the daily stresses of life.

What does Artdillo Studios do?

1. Youth Art Portfolio Development Program & Fine Arts

Artdillo Studios provides accessible, community-centered fine arts programming that supports creative skill development, personal expression, mental health and social connection for Flint-area residents, with a strong emphasis on youth and historically underserved communities.

2. Common Clay Club Pottery

The Common Clay Club is our affordable community pottery program offering six-week sessions that qualify participants for a $20 per month membership. Members can regularly access studio space in a low-pressure environment to practice, experiment, and build pottery skills at their own pace.

3. Open Studios

Why does my contribution matter?

Artdillo Studios is led by a passionate group of artists who believe in the transformative power of the arts and the significance of third spaces for community empowerment & growth. Third spaces—places where individuals can gather, connect, and create—play a vital role in building and fostering community. We focus on identifying and serving cities that not only face challenges, but are also emergent centers for art, like Flint, Michigan. Our goal is to enhance the quality of life for residents by turning these third spaces into vibrant hubs of creativity and collaboration.

Artdillo Studios is currently based in Flint. In recent years, Flint has faced numerous challenges, including economic decline, health crises, and a lack of investment in public services, resulting in high poverty rates and ongoing struggles for residents.

The legacy of disinvestment continues to impact Flint's ability to recover and rebuild. As the community seeks to heal, grassroots organizations like ours are increasingly vital in addressing the needs of Flint’s residents and working towards revitalization. Your donation will help Artdillo Studios to:

Increase more public open studios hours & opportunities
Increase the frequency of our workshops
Expand our classes offerings
Mobilize and recruit volunteers
Hire more studio managers
Maintain technology to post/promote events
Cover studio rent, utilities, and operational costs
Train staff and volunteers on safety procedures & effective workshop management.

How will be donation be used?

Here how your donation will be appreciated:

$15 will fund 1 week’s worth of outreach and event promotion efforts.

$25 will fund our studio’s security system for 1 month.

$40 will fund utilities for our community partners for 1 month.

$50 will fund our website, background check & membership systems for 1 month.

$200 will fund 1 month’s worth of supplies to support our donation-based workshops.

$300 will fund utilities for 1 month.

$1350 will fund rent for our studio for 1 month.
