Artdillo Studios is a grassroots initiative dedicated to creating safe, inclusive and empowering third spaces for art & community. Our mission is to strengthen local arts communities by providing creative third-spaces and donation-based workshops. Since our launch in May 2024, we have positively impacted over 120 individuals in the Greater Flint area, with plans to expand into Greater Detroit, Cleveland & beyond in the next three years.

Artdillo Studios engages in its mission through several key programs, including:

Open Studios Membership
1. Artdillo Studios offers affordable (or fee-waived) Open Studio Membership to community members. After going through an application process & training, members have access to the studio space, arts equipment, materials, facilities, and amenities such as WiFi and locker space. We currently hold Open Studios every Wednesday, Thursday, Fridays & Saturdays. Your support will help us make more Open Studio hours and opportunities available.

Donation-based Arts Workshops
1. We currently hold 1-2 donations-based arts classes per week. Our regular roster of workshops are pottery, wood-burning, printmaking, drawing, painting & crochet. These classes provide an affordable way for the Flint community to explore new art forms, develop skills, and find people with similar interests. Artdillo events range from beginner-friendly craft workshops like crochet, to more advanced classes such as figure drawing. Your support will allow us to create a more diverse range of classes and increase the frequency of our current programs.
Community Partner Event Space Rental
1. Artdillo Studios partners with multiple community organizations to amplify our efforts. Those efforts include free use of space to other 501c(3) organizations such as the Greater Flint Art Council, The Disability Network and Flint Handmade, and any organizations working to foster community, creativity, or improve mental/physical well-being.

Artdillo Studios is led by a passionate group of artists who believe in the transformative power of the arts and the significance of third spaces for community empowerment & growth. Third spaces—places where individuals can gather, connect, and create—play a vital role in building and fostering community. We focus on identifying and serving cities that not only face challenges, but are also emergent centers for art, like Flint, Michigan. Our goal is to enhance the quality of life for residents by turning these third spaces into vibrant hubs of creativity and collaboration.

Artdillo Studios is currently based in Flint. In recent years, Flint has faced numerous challenges, including economic decline, health crises, and a lack of investment in public services, resulting in high poverty rates and ongoing struggles for residents.

The legacy of disinvestment continues to impact Flint's ability to recover and rebuild. As the community seeks to heal, grassroots organizations like ours are increasingly vital in addressing the needs of Flint’s residents and working towards revitalization. Your donation will help Artdillo Studios to:

Increase more Open Studios hours & opportunities
Increase the frequency of our donation-based workshops
Expand our classes offerings
Mobilize and recruit volunteers
Hire more studio managers
Maintain technology to post/promote events
Cover studio rent, utilities, and operational costs
Train staff and volunteers on safety procedures & effective workshop management
Open new locations in Detroit, Cleveland, and other emerging artistic cities, focusing on both creative hubs and communities in need, like Flint.

Here how your donation will be appreciated:

$15 will fund 1 week’s worth of outreach and event promotion efforts.

$25 will fund our studio’s security system for 1 month.

$40 will fund utilities for our community partners for 1 month.

$50 will fund our website, background check & membership systems for 1 month.

$100 will fund utilities for our studio for 1 month.

$250 will fund 1 month’s worth of supplies to support our donation-based workshops.

$250 will fund one studio manager for 1 month.

$350 will fund rent for our studio for 1 month.

$2000 will fund plumbing & installation of a new workstation sink😉
