We Were More Than a Farm.

Before the flood, Asher Acres was home.

For 36 years, our family poured love, work, and a whole lot of stubbornness into this little piece of the Texas Hill Country. We grew an artisanal spice business here. We raised animals. We watched generations of family and friends gather around tables, celebrate milestones, work hard, laugh loudly, and make memories.

We weren't just land or buildings.

We were a home. A business. A gathering place. A piece of our family's history.

And then, on July 5, 2025, the water came.

The Flood

The flood didn't simply damage Asher Acres.

It tore through it.

Three homes. Five vehicles. Barns and outbuildings. Equipment. Our business. Our animals. Decades of memories and belongings.

We lost almost everything.

Our livestock were swept away. Our chickens and ducks were gone. Our bees were gone. The waters were so strong that even our pool was ripped from the ground. The places where our family had lived and worked for decades were suddenly unrecognizable.

And we weren't alone. Our neighbors were devastated too. People we loved lost their homes, their livelihoods, and, heartbreakingly, their lives.

When the water finally receded, we were left standing in the mud, looking at what remained and wondering what came next.

The Aftermath

Recovery didn't look like the movies.

There was no single moment when everything started getting better.

There were insurance battles, paperwork, debris, temporary housing, impossible decisions, rebuilding requirements, and the exhausting reality of figuring out how to put a life back together when the life you knew no longer existed.

But something else happened, too.

People showed up.

Neighbors helped neighbors. Volunteers came with chainsaws, trucks, meals, tools, hugs, and hope.

At first, Asher Acres became a staging ground—a place for volunteers to gather before heading out to help our neighbors.

Then it became something bigger.

It became a place for our community to organize.

Since the flood, we've been working at every level to make sure what happened to us doesn't happen to the next community without better tools, better policies, and a louder voice.

We're lobbying in DC, calling for federal disaster relief to be improved and for survivors to have a real seat at the table.

We're working at the state level to pass legislation that helps all of Texas rebuild stronger and recover better.

Right here at home, we're organizing locally and holding our county accountable for infrastructure, preparedness, and public safety.

And we're doing all of it from the flat piece of earth where the farm used to stand.

And somewhere along the way, Asher Acres stopped being only about what we had lost.

It became about what we could build.

The Hope

We decided we weren't going to rebuild the exact life we had before.

We're going to build something stronger.

Something safer. Something that honors what was here without being trapped by it.

We're rebuilding Asher Acres as a place where family can live, where community can gather, and where people can organize to make disaster recovery better for everyone.

And that work won't end when the houses are finished.

The rebuilding of Asher Acres and the rebuilding of our community are the same story.

The Plan

We're rebuilding Asher Acres as a resilient family homestead and community resource—designed for the reality of living in a flood-prone part of the Hill Country.

We're rebuilding homes elevated above the new flood requirements. We're restoring the land. We're bringing back gardens, animals, and the things that made this place feel alive.

We're incorporating what we've learned: environmental stewardship, resilience planning, accessibility, and infrastructure designed to help us withstand whatever comes next.

But this isn't just a construction project.

It's our family's way of saying we're still here.

And it's our community's way of saying we're not going anywhere.

Every donation helps us take another step—from demolition to rebuilding, from surviving to living again.

You can help us turn a place marked by loss into a place marked by resilience, family, community, and hope.

Asher Acres isn't going back.

We're building forward.

And we'd love for you to come with us.

With gratitude,

The Asher Acres Family
