We work hard to help increase awareness about autoinflammatory diseases, and educate patients and medical professionals so they can better care for these rare diseases. Autoinflammatory diseases are lifelong conditions, that often start in infancy or early childhood.

Our goals for working with patients are to help them to connect with other patients, become informed about their disease and needs, and empower them to be able to advocate for the needs for care, and to their elected officials on issues.

We also need funds to be able to make important updates to our resources to help more patients and healthcare providers to care for thier patients.

These rare diseases can cause repeated fevers, rashes, pain, fatigue, organ inflammation, and other serious symptoms. Many patients spend years searching for answers. Some are told their symptoms are “just infections,” “just allergies,” or “all in their head.” Others see many doctors before anyone considers an autoinflammatory disease.

The Systemic Autoinflammatory Diseases Comparison Database
The Autoinflammatory Alliance created the original Systemic Autoinflammatory Diseases Comparison Chart and Database, which became a leading worldwide educational and diagnostic tool. Autoinflammatory Disease Research
The Autoinflammatory Alliance funds research to improve understanding of autoinflammatory diseases and support progress toward better diagnosis, care, and treatment. This also includes research for urgently needed scientific research for various diseases, and efforts to develop improved future clinical trial systems that are geared for autoinflammatory and immunedysregulatory patients and published research collaborations, including some based on our patient survey data, including this pubilication, and many presentations. https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S3050708125000096

Autoinflammatory Medical Guidance Publications
The Autoinflammatory Alliance financially supported and contributed patient perspective to major international guidance for autoinflammatory diseases, including the 2021 EULAR/American College of Rheumatology points to consider for IL-1 mediated autoinflammatory diseases and for type I interferonopathies, such as CAPS, TRAPS, MKD, DIRA, CANDLE/PRAAS, SAVI, and AGS. These papers help guide diagnosis, treatment, and monitoring for patients with these rare diseases.

Translational Autoinflammatory Research Network (TARN)
The Autoinflammatory Alliance helped to fund the development and initial needs for TARN, and our president serves as the Patient Representative Lead on the Steering Committee for the Translational Autoinflammatory Research Network, an international research network focused on advancing research, clinical trials, treatment, and care for people with systemic autoinflammatory diseases. https://tarnnetwork.org/who-we-are

International Society of Systemic Auto-Inflammatory Diseases (ISSAID)
The Autoinflammatory Alliance president represents the patient community as the Patient Representative Lead on the ISSAID Steering Committee. We have helped to fund the scientific meetings, plus organize and help to fund ISSAID patient programs in 2010, 2019 and 2023 with ISSAID.

International Autoinflammatory Medical Symposiums
The Autoinflammatory Alliance has helped to organize, manage and fund internationally attended medical conferences held at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and Walter Reed National Military Medical Center (WRNMMC) since 2016.

2019 working groups and meetings at the NIH that included experts speaking for the "Autoinflammatory Bootcamp" training series to teach doctors about these diseases, that was a hybrid meeting to reach full capacity at the conference, and to hundred tuning in, and more since then watching the series on youtube.

We also have hosted programs for patients during International Autoinflammatory Awareness Month in August since 2014, including a large program at the 2019 meeting in Maryland, plus virtual programs since 2020 online, with translation, and other events around the US.

Over the past ten years, we have been able to fund $350,000 in direct scientific research, US and international scientific meetings and Task Force Expert Working Parties to create guidelines and future ways to improve clinical trials, plus support research collaborations and publications. With more funding, we can have a greater impact and accelerate needed research and resources to help more patients.
