August 2, 2026 | AUTS2 Awareness Day

On August 2, families, friends, researchers, clinicians, and supporters around the world will come together for our first-ever AUTS2 Awareness Day.

Our goal is simple but ambitious: raise $300,000 to accelerate the development of treatments for AUTS2 syndrome.

Thanks to a generous commitment from the founding family of the AUTS2 Research Collaborative, every dollar donated by the community will be matched dollar-for-dollar, doubling the impact of your gift.

Why This Matters

AUTS2 syndrome is a rare genetic condition that affects neurodevelopment and can impact communication, learning, movement, behavior, feeding, and many other aspects of daily life.

Today, there are no approved treatments that address the underlying biology of AUTS2.

But for the first time, researchers around the world are actively exploring multiple therapeutic strategies, including gene activation approaches designed to increase AUTS2 expression, drug repurposing opportunities, and other promising avenues for treatment development.

The challenge is no longer a lack of ideas.

The challenge is funding the research needed to determine which ideas can become treatments.

What Your Donation Could Fund

Earlier this year, the AUTS2 Research Collaborative launched its inaugural Research Catalyst Fund, inviting scientists around the world to submit proposals focused on advancing AUTS2 research and therapeutic development.

Proposed projects include:

Developing Potential AUTS2 Therapies
Researchers have proposed innovative approaches designed to increase AUTS2 expression, including cutting-edge CRISPR activation (CRISPRa) technologies that work by turning up activity of the AUTS2 gene without altering the underlying DNA sequence.

Building Better Research Models
Scientists are developing patient-derived stem cell and cellular models that can be used to study AUTS2 in the laboratory and evaluate potential therapies more rapidly and effectively.

Identifying Biomarkers for Future Clinical Trials
To bring treatments to patients, researchers need reliable ways to measure whether a therapy is working. Proposed projects aim to identify biomarkers that could help prepare the field for future clinical studies.

Accelerating Discovery
Other projects seek to better understand the fundamental biology of AUTS2, helping researchers identify new therapeutic targets and uncover opportunities for future drug development.
