We connect people in need with people and organizations who want to help. HELPIS is an all-volunteer organization that does not receive any federal, state, or private grant funding. HELPIS believes that we all experience times of struggle in life, and each of us has something of value to offer to others. HELPIS has connected thousands of people in need with thousands of people who wish to help since its founding in 2009. HELPIS volunteers, led by founder Joyce Deliyiannis, work collaboratively with social workers, medical professionals, educators, and community leaders to provide fast, targeted help to those in need. Common needs are clothing, food, diapers, formula, strollers, car seats, household items, medical supplies. HELPIS partners with many nonprofits and government agencies throughout the Greater Boston area, including: Burlington Youth and Family Services, Boston Health Care for the Homeless, Project Hope, Plummer Youth Promise, Bridge Over Troubled Waters, Lowell Transitional Living Center, the Tanner Closet at Woburn High School, the Cambridge Street Closet at Burlington High School, Disabled and Limbless Veterans, Inc. and many local families and individuals. In 2022, the Burlington Select Board designated May 24 as HELPIS day. On April 28, 2016, after years of advocacy by HELPIS, the Governor of Massachusetts honored this work by declaring May to be the Month of Kindness. Our vision is to spread our message that "those who are in need of help deserve to be helped" across our country, through the passage of a national law recognizing the month of May as the Month of Kindness. 162 Winn St, Burlington, MA 01803, USA
