Hi! My Name is Catherine Newburn.
I am a second year missionary and a Support Crew Team Leader on the Nebraska Route!
You might ask how I became a part of this mission. In Luke 1:41, the Holy Spirit prompts John to leap in the womb at the presence of Jesus. Much to my surprise, the passage has quickly become a core scripture in my faith life.
I’ve been family friends with my Co-Team Leader Megan since I was little. In February of 2024, she made a passive comment asking for prayers for this organization that she was a part of called Biking for Babies. She had specifically requested prayers that more support crew missionaries would sign up because the deadline for applications was in 2 days. As soon as she brought it up, it was as if something jumped inside of me saying, "That is where you need to go." I felt the Holy Spirit speaking through Megan in such a strong way, my heart leapt for joy. I hardly knew anything about Biking for Babies, and even less about what it meant to be a support crew missionary, but I knew that the Lord was calling me to participate in the mission. If He was calling me there, then I would go.
Sure enough, Biking for Babies has been a life-changing mission. I have learned so much about the pro-life mission and what it means to build a culture of life, both in my personal relationships and on a broader scale. Being a support crew missionary means you give all you can for your riders to ensure they have a smooth ride. That sounds easy, until you’re waking up at 3:30 am every morning to fill water bottles, pack lunches, and load the car. This mission has taught me so much about enduring suffering parallel to these women facing unplanned pregnancies. Every sacrifice, every small hardship during the National Ride becomes an offering. Biking for Babies is not just handing pregnancy resource centers money, but it is an incarnational form of evangelism, getting on the same level as women in crisis pregnancies, and offering up all that we endure for their sake.
I’m returning to the mission this year as a Support Crew Team Leader, and I am so excited to spread to love and joy of Biking for Babies to a new region as we ride the Nebraska Route! Biking for Babies is truly a one-of-a-kind mission that creates a culture of life in numerous ways. It has been such a gift to be a part of such an extraordinary mission, and I CANNOT wait to be a part of it again this year!
I invite you to participate in this mission by whatever means you are capable of, be it donation, participation, raising awareness, or prayer. Your donation supports our mission to renew the culture of life by forming young adult missionaries and raising awareness and funds for pregnancy resource centers that support pregnant women across the country.
Thank you for your constant love, prayers, and support!
