Established in 1997, the Bark Park is an off-leash dog park located at the base of Diamond Head.
Here you'll find a huge lawn, doggie water fountain, shady trees, a mix of benches and seating, free poop bags, and plenty of tennis balls! We also have two smaller fenced play areas for small or anxious dogs.
Guests are asked to follow posted rules and to pay attention to their dog at all times.
While open to the public, we are not a city/state park! We rely on individual donors and volunteers to stay open.
People & Pet Park Inc. is a non-profit, tax exempt company for operation of the Bark Park. Our email is [email protected].

Bark Park History
People & Pet Park Inc., the non-profit that operates Bark Park, was founded in 1997 by Clark Hatch, a local businessman, philanthropist, and dog lover. He negotiated with the State of Hawai'i to create a place for dogs (and their humans) to run, play, and socialize.
Bark Park was the first of its kind in Hawai'i – a large, fenced, off-leash dog park – and continues to be one of few dedicated dog parks serving the Honolulu area.
In addition to Bark Park, Mr. Hatch worked on many projects to beautify the Diamond Head area, including the Fort Ruger Pathway and Bryan Clay Exercise Park.
For nearly three decades, the park has been supported by members of our community. We can't do it without you!
Volunteers
A small group of volunteers looks after the park and its needs, including maintenance, trash, repairs, and admin.
We welcome all suggestions, ideas, offers of support, skills, or really cute dog photos on our social media:
If you are interested in getting further involved with the park, please email [email protected].
The park (and this website) is operated by a small group of regulars who love this special place and seek to preserve it for decades to come.
