Beyond Vision remains one of only two machine shops in the nation employing individuals with vision loss, offering career pathways that foster confidence, independence, and long-term professional success. We are creating real careers and reshaping perceptions of what’s possible. As our capabilities grow, so does our impact and you can help.

We’re working to modernize our shop by adding bar feeder capabilities. These upgrades will increase efficiency five- to sixfold and allow us to take on larger, more complex orders. We’ll be able to serve our current customers more effectively and attract new ones, expanding both our reach and our impact.

The impact of these upgrades on our mission is fourfold:

A higher volume of work increases labor demand, leading to more job opportunities for individuals with vision loss.
New equipment offers employees the opportunity to expand their technical skills and gain experience with advanced manufacturing practices.
Enhances workplace safety by reducing the need for employees to manually handle metal materials.
Supports our commitment to precision and quality, demonstrating the exceptional capabilities of our employees who are blind.

Making a Difference

Statistics from the VisionServe Alliance (VSA) Big Data Project show the following:

29% of people with vision loss say they are unable to work, compared to just 6.3% of people without vision loss.
42% of people experiencing vision loss report annual household incomes of less than $20,000, compared to 15.2% of people without vision loss

These statistics reflect the barriers to employment and economic independence the blindness community continues to face. We know we need to drive change through opportunity, inclusion, and meaningful work.
