This year, we are focused on supporting our 37 company dancers for their tights, ballet tech shoes, and pointe shoes. Each dancer receives dance apparel courtesy of generous donations from people like you. For example, pointe shoes are $120 each, and we want to make sure our dancers have the materials they need. If dancers surpass their individual goal of $100, all extra proceeds will go to the general fund in support of the Nutcracker Orchestra and 2026 Spring Performance of Sleeping Beauty at The Historic Fox Theatre.

We are Bakersfield’s premier pre-professional ballet company inspiring and enriching our community with performances and fostering a love for the arts in youth through dance. Our focus is on performing classical and contemporary ballet. BCB contributes to the development of Bakersfield’s rich culture by bringing the beauty of dance to more lives through annual performances.

BCB is unique in that we are not a dance studio, but a student company trainee program consisting of members who are dedicated to refining their ballet technique and polishing their artistry. We provide our members with the higher education and experience necessary to transition from studio training to a college dance program or professional career.

Bakersfield City Ballet's artistic faculty strives to further their education in the performing arts, and stay relevant in the ever-progressing styles and demands of dance while passing all knowledge onto company members. We believe the classical ballet technique as well as other styles of dance teach a person several important character-building traits, such as poise, self-confidence, accountability, and reliability.

BCB also supports local musicians annually with a live symphony orchestra for Civic Dance Center's Nutcracker.
