About Us

The mission of The Village Legal and Community Project is to empower the members of our communities. We do this by providing pro bono legal services and programming addressing economic development and life readiness.

Our vision is to create communities where people have access to justice, our youth reach high levels of achievement, and our entrepreneurs receive the tools they need to launch and grow strong businesses. This emphasis on access to legal representation, education and economic development helps to create opportunities and stability in our neighborhoods.

The Village’s Life Readiness Programs are designed to build a creative and collaborative learning community where our youth improve their academic and social emotional skills and further refine their post-secondary aspirations. They will improve their communication, writing, presentation, and collaboration skills. We offer two programs for our youth-Baby B.O.S.S. and Resume Bootcamp.

Support Our Youth

Our Resume Bootcamp helps our youth develop the tools they need to enter the job market. In our six-week program, our youth will learn:

* How to write a resume
* How to interview for jobs (with mock interviews and feedback)
* What to do after they have secured the job

We created this program as a direct response to what we heard from educators, social workers and other people who work directly with our youth. Many of them were asked to help their students with finding jobs, but they found that the kids didn't know how to prepare to enter the workforce. While the teachers and social workers helped as many as they could, they were already overextended.

You can help us by becoming a member of The Village! $250 provides a four-week Resume Bootcamp for our youth. Our goal is to raise enough for at least four Resume Bootcamps. We have a donor who will match our first $500. Won't you join us today?
