Before Us is a feature film about five women—strangers on a collision course charted by the meddling spirits of their ancestors—who wrestle with motherhood, purpose, and identity. As their stories increasingly intertwine, they find strength in community and the shared power of women across generations.

This story is truly a labor of love. Written by Hanna Olson, Ryan Kerwin, and Meredith Palomo, Before Us seeks to capture the magic of connection and community between women and trusting yourself to shape the life that's right for you. We really believe we have something special here - a team that's based 100% in Colorado and committed to making the best and most genuine film we can. Filmmaking is incredibly hard work, but this team makes it easy. We treat each other well, collaborate by default, and each of us makes the others better. We want to show the world the talent that's right here in our community and build the kind of film industry we all want to work in - one where we create great art on a team where each person has a place, each voice has value, and everyone is safe and supported.

We're currently fundraising to cover our first two months of filming, March and April 2026. We'll continue fundraising for each month of filming, which we anticipate to cost about $250,000 total. We plan to film through July 2026 and submit for the 2027 Sundance Film Festival - the first season the festival will be based in Colorado. Most of our budget (66%) goes to paying our cast and crew fairly. Making movies is a lot of work and we want to make sure everyone is compensated for their time, talent, and effort.
