Join us on August 28 for "Beyond the Silence," a special community event dedicated to raising awareness, supporting prevention efforts, and honoring those affected by mental health or substance use challenges, overdose and/or suicide loss. This event is open to everyone impacted or concerned about these important issues.

For the first time, we are expanding this event to include suicide awareness, acknowledging the deeply intertwined nature of mental health, substance use, and the risks of both overdose and suicide. Through open dialogue and collective remembrance, we hope to break the stigma, build hope, and strengthen support networks within our community.

Event Highlights:

Powerful talks from community leaders, featuring Dr. Monica Silva, Kane County Coroner, sharing personal insights and expertise.
Personal testimonies from individuals impacted by mental health or substance use challenges, overdose and/or suicide loss.
Narcan training and distribution provided in partnership with the Kane County Health Department.
Promotion and education about the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline, also in collaboration with Kane County Health Department.
A heartfelt Candlelight Vigil and Memory Wall honoring individuals lost to overdose, suicide, and mental health struggles.
On-site recovery and grief resources for anyone seeking support.
Recognition and observance of International Overdose Awareness Day (August 31) and World Suicide Prevention Day (September 10).

Tribute and Memory Wall Opportunities:

Community members can submit personal tributes or messages of encouragement for inclusion in our printed event program. Additionally, you may honor loved ones by submitting their names and photos for our Memory Wall and Candlelight Vigil.
