Hello! My name is Lucas Dunning and I am a social media coordinator here on BIke4Alz Team 14, along with two others. Originally, I am from Franklin Tennessee, but my roots run deep in Bowling Green and ultimately led to me being here. I am currently a sophomore here at WKU where I am majoring in broadcasting with a minor in finance. On campus, I am a member of the fraternity Phi Gamma Delta where I serve as a our corresponding secretary on our cabinet. I also serve as a member of Dance Big Red, which is another non-profit that supports Norton's Childerns Hospital.
I first heard about Bike4Alz when I joined the chapter in the fall of my freshman year. I instantly knew this was something I wanted to be a part of, seeing this hard work and dedication that goes into this ride is what really inspired me to get involved. Knowing the impact it has on other people's life is truly something special and I am honored now to be a part of it. Being on the Bike4Alz home team last semester also was a great experience as it introduced me to the fundraising aspect of the organization. It showed me how we can efficiently raise as much money as possible to end this awful disease.
I personally have a connection to Alzheimer's as both my Uncle's Mother and Grandmother lost their battle with this deadly disease. I saw the hardships that members of my family had to go through being a caregiver with ultimately knowing the results that this disease brings. This is my main motivation for riding as I am honored to ride for all of those impacted by Alzheimer's. Through my strong faith in Jesus, I believe I have been called to serve others, and I am very excited and proud to be a member of such a great organization! #ENDALZ
