Why I'm Running
Thank you for visiting my fundraising page to support my 26.2 in 2022 and a great cause!
You may know that running has become a big part of my life, including training to run my first and only (so far) marathon in Boston in 2017, and meeting my wife Jess.
So on Monday, April 18th, I’m excited to be running my 2nd Boston Marathon, and with your support along the way, raising $7,500 for an organization and mission important to me.
I’ve been a volunteer on the Board of LBFE Boston (Little Brothers – Friends of the Elderly) since 2016 because their work celebrating the value of ‘being seen’ and friendship in relieving isolation and loneliness among older adults is near and dear to me. Intergenerational friendships, whether it’s with your grandparents or older church and community members, are an important and fun part of learning and growing up.
LBFE’s mission became even more important during the pandemic when ‘social-distancing’ became a thing, and many older adults didn’t have access to the smartphones, laptops, and wifi connections we take for granted, might go weeks without seeing a familiar face. LBFE is adapting, and working to close this digital divide with new intergenerational programs focused on technology access and education with student volunteers in Greater Boston’s senior housing facilities.
Your donation of any amount towards my $7,500 goal will help accelerate these important life connections!
Thank you in advance for being part of my Boston Marathon experience and cheering on both of my goals!
Billy
