Bindi’s Healing Habitat

When Bindi first came into our care, we knew she was a special little otter. She was found alone after severe flooding, and we believe she may have been swept away from her family. She was cold, disoriented, and showing signs that suggested she may have also suffered a concussion.

Since then, Bindi has fought every step of the way.

Although she has grown stronger and continues to be full of curiosity and personality, she still experiences ongoing seizures even while on medication. Because of this, she cannot safely transition to an outdoor enclosure just yet. She requires close monitoring so we can respond quickly whenever she has a seizure and continue working with her veterinary team to provide the best care possible.

While her journey hasn’t been easy, Bindi hasn’t let it dim her spirit. She is incredibly social, playful, and always looking for something to explore. Like all young otters, she needs plenty of space, enrichment, and opportunities to play and exercise to stay both physically and mentally healthy.

That’s why we’re launching Bindi’s Healing Habitat.

Our goal is to build a larger, secure indoor enclosure that gives Bindi the room she needs to run, play, explore, and simply be an otter while remaining in a safe environment where she can be closely monitored. This enclosure will provide a better quality of life during her recovery and allow us to continue giving her the specialized care she deserves.

Our current fundraising goal is $155.54, which will purchase the indoor pen needed to expand her habitat. Every donation no matter the size brings us one step closer to creating a space where Bindi can thrive while she continues her healing journey.
