Boundless Literacy provides high-dosage, structured literacy instruction to children in underserved New Haven schools, helping them become strong, confident readers. Each year we serve approximately 150 students across six New Haven public schools, all of whom are significantly below grade level and would not otherwise have access to this level of intensive support, since private tutoring at this intensity is simply out of reach for most families.

Our instruction is grounded in the Orton-Gillingham approach, a structured, research-based method that explicitly teaches how sounds and letters work together and builds foundational skills in decoding, fluency, and comprehension. This work happens daily, during the school day, delivered by trained instructors in close partnership with teachers and school teams. Daily instruction is what sets this work apart from once-or-twice-a-week tutoring, and it is what makes the growth we see possible.

The results speak for themselves. This year, a second grader grew from reading 22 words at 79% accuracy to 99 words at 100% accuracy between September and March. First grade cohorts have moved from roughly 22% at benchmark in foundational skills to over 80% in less than a year. These gains reflect what consistent, daily, structured instruction can do for a child's trajectory.

Reading gaps that form early tend to widen over time without intervention, and literacy is the foundation for success across nearly every domain of a child's academic life. Many schools want to provide this level of daily, intensive support but do not have the capacity to do it alone. Your gift helps close that gap.

Boundless Literacy is currently working to expand into additional New Haven schools, launch a school-wide model that strengthens classroom instruction alongside intervention, and invest in teacher training that builds lasting capacity within the schools we serve. Every dollar given moves a child closer to reading confidently and a school closer to reaching every student who needs this support.
