If you've followed Saving Snouts for a while, chances are you already know Blake.

Blake came to our sanctuary as a one-year-old pig rescued from a previous life of neglect. Soon after arriving, he developed a life-threatening kidney stone. We were told there was nothing that could be done and that euthanasia was his only option.

But giving up on Blake was never an option.

The incredible team at the University of Tennessee stepped in, bringing together specialists from both their small and large animal departments to develop a creative surgical plan. When the first procedure wasn't successful, they didn't quit. They went back to the drawing board, tried again, and ultimately saved Blake's life.

Today, Blake is once again facing a medical challenge.

He has developed a mass in his mouth that requires specialized evaluation. Because of its location, determining the best course of treatment isn't straightforward. We want to make sure Blake has every opportunity to receive the best care possible.

Our first step is an appointment with a veterinary team in Lodi, Wisconsin. At the same time, we're consulting with specialists at both the University of Tennessee and Cornell University to review Blake's case and determine the best path forward.

We're hopeful the Wisconsin team will be able to diagnose and treat Blake close to home. However, if additional specialized care is needed, Blake may once again make the trip to Tennessee to be treated by the team that gave him a second chance before.

As you can imagine, advanced diagnostics, consultations, imaging, treatment, travel, and potential surgery all come with significant costs. This fundraiser will help ensure that financial limitations never stand in the way of giving Blake the care he deserves.

Blake has overcome incredible odds before, thanks to a community that believed in him. Today, we're asking for that same support once again.
