Story
Life can change in the blink of an eye. When that change is a traumatic spinal cord injury, every second counts.
Blink of an Eye is a new 501(c)(3) non-profit organization providing resources for Spinal Cord Injury families, medical Teams and the community around them in the crucial first 30 days after injury.
Providing hope, expert knowledge and support to create the greatest potential for positive outcomes and wholeness in healing.
We are changing the SCI experience for families and medical teams on the front end in the first hours and weeks of crisis with experienced trauma-informed SCI Navigators and medical and relational support teams. We need your help!
With a sole focus on Spinal Cord Injury and Trauma Healing, we journey with patients, families and medical teams with an unwavering belief in extraordinary possibilities. Our trauma-trained, volunteer HEAL Team travels to be bedside with families through the earliest hours of injury, bringing Hope, Empathy, Advocacy, Logistical advice and Love, and our Family Support and Navigation Team provides technical and relational support thereafter for the first 30 days of injury when life turns upside down.
Blink of an Eye is a grassroots organization in its earliest days, founded by Louise Phipps Senft, whose son Archer was injured in a freak diving accident at the beach in 2015. Through his recovery and adaptation to life-- living with quadriplegia/tetraplegia-- Louise, her husband Bill, Archer and their other 4 kids and extended family learned countless lessons about trauma and resilience. For a year, Louise wrote updates in real time while bedside to Archer about the complications of this injury. The Senft family was also aided by countless friends and family. They wanted to pay it forward years later after living into a new normal. Louise began the Blink of an Eye podcast in 2020 which has touched thousands of listeners, and, with the help of other committed mission driven Trustees, launched the Blink of an Eye 501(c)(3) non profit.
