Blitz was adopted from Stanislaus Animal Services. His original foster, Robin, was later contacted by the people who had him and told they were moving and could no longer keep him.

Robin agreed to take him back.

She thought she was going to pick up the dog she remembered.

She was not prepared for what she found.

Blitz was severely emaciated.

His bones are visible beneath his skin.

He was so weak that HE COULD NOT WALK.

He had thick green mucus coming from his nose, significant discharge from his eyes, and his little body was clearly in serious trouble.

Robin immediately called Woof Tribe.

And there wasn't even a discussion.

GET HIM TO THE VET.

Blitz was rushed to Standiford Veterinary Center, where the fight to save him began.

We still don't know how extensive his medical needs are going to be.

We don't know how long he will require treatment.

We don't know what complications may be uncovered as the veterinary team evaluates a dog whose body has been depleted this severely.

But we already know this is going to be expensive.

OUR GOAL IS $18000

That is the low-end estimate to get us started.

Blitz may need hospitalization, diagnostics, bloodwork, imaging, medications, carefully managed nutritional rehabilitation, additional veterinary treatment and continued follow-up care.

He also desperately needs an experienced MEDICAL FOSTER who can help him recover once he is stable enough to leave the hospital.

And unfortunately, we know $18,000 may only be the beginning.

We are already approximately $17,800 into his care — and we are JUST GETTING STARTED.

But there is one thing I can promise you:

WOOF TRIBE IS NOT WALKING AWAY FROM HIM.

I don't care that Blitz wasn't originally our dog.

I don't care that we weren't the rescue involved in his adoption.

I am not going to look at a dog who is this sick, this emaciated and this weak and say:

"Sorry, you're not ours."

NOT A CHANCE.

Blitz has been failed enough.

From the moment Robin called us—

HE BECAME OURS.

Robin came for him.

Woof Tribe came for him.

AND NOW WE ARE HIS FAMILY.

Our job now is to help put weight back on those bones.

To get his body strong enough to stand again.

To figure out why he is so sick.

To treat whatever is happening inside that little body.

And hopefully, one day soon, to put the light back into the eyes of a dog who looks like he had almost given up.

But we cannot do this without our Tribe.
