The Five-Minute Miracle

A few years ago, we visited a blueberry field in Arkansas. For most families, picking berries is just a fun afternoon. For us, it was a breakthrough. Our son, who has autism and ADHD, spent five minutes straight focused on the same task—picking berries. In our world, five minutes of calm, regulated focus is a phenomenal win.

That moment changed everything. We realized that Western Nebraska needed this—a space where families can slow down, re-calibrate, and find "the five-minute miracle" for themselves.

What We Are Building Now

We’ve already successfully tested 8 rows with 240 plants to see what thrives in our soil. Now, we are expanding to 30 rows and 900 plants. This isn't just about fruit; it’s about:

Sensory Regulation: A quiet, predictable outdoor activity for children and adults with sensory needs.
Sustainability: Once mature, these berries will provide a revenue stream to help feed our animals and keep the Shire accessible to everyone.
Community Space: Funding helps us clear the land, dig the trenches, and install the irrigation needed for our big Spring planting.

We aren't just planting bushes; we’re growing a place where every child belongs and every family can find a moment of peace.
