Cobb's community cats need your help!

We urgently need $8,000 to build secure catios to house cats rescued directly from Cobb County Animal Services' euthanasia list. We currently have cats anxiously awaiting barn cat/working cat placement, and these enclosures will provide a safe, comfortable, and enriching environment for these vulnerable felines, offering them a crucial respite while they await their forever homes.

We're launching our Blue Collar Cats program to find these kitties, and future ones, life-saving placement in a working cat home.

Since the panleukopenia outbreak in August of last year, we've become far more involved with the fate of unsocialized community cats at Cobb County Animal Services (CCAS). These unadoptable cats, turned in by people who don't understand the limited options they have for leaving the shelter, face euthanasia if we don't intervene. We pull and provide holding space for those who don't qualify for return-to-field programs, giving them a chance at life.

While we've successfully found barn homes for nine cats so far, we still have 17 cats in holding, including eight recent rescues from CCAS's ringworm quarantine, all desperately needing a forever home. At the end of March we are losing use of the space where we have been holding them. There is an urgent need for new holding space for these kitties and the many more who will end up on euthanasia lists without it.

As we head into kitten season, cats that cannot be handled or adopted will continue to be turned in and will be the first to be euthanized when the shelter reaches capacity. Having appropriate and safe holding space means more of these cats will make it out alive.
