Join us on Thursday, April 9, 6-8 pm, at The Healing Hive for a soulful evening celebrating the launch of What Does Anyone Know About Goddesses, the debut poetry chapbook by Waynesville-based writer and Hive member Gina Malone.

This luminous collection explores the life and legacy of Gina’s mother — a woman who married young, raised three children, ran a household with devotion, and loved her family unequivocally, while quietly carrying the longing for a youth she never fully had. Interwoven with these personal poems are reflections on Hestia, the Greek goddess of home and hearth — the quiet, steadfast keeper of the flame, powerful yet rarely centered in myth.

“How many women in the 1960s—and still today—are, like Hestia and my mother, so essential and yet so often overlooked and underappreciated?” says the author. “I still draw on my mother’s strength, her kindness, her selflessness, her generosity, her matchless ability to make a home: a cozy, warm, loving place of sanctuary for her family and friends.”

During this special gathering, Gina will read selected poems, share reflections on her creative process, and stories behind the book. The evening will also include a gentle, heart-centered creative experience — inviting participants to reflect, write, and offer a few words honoring the ones who taught us love, or the part of ourselves that learned how to love.

We will gather in the spirit of Hestia: warm, reverent, and real.
