BookMode gives kindles to kids to keep! Help us give kindles to every 2nd grader in Tahoe every year!

This program was created by two STHS grads as a partnership between the Marcella Foundation and Lift Literature.

Our mission is to help kids become young, enthusiastic readers that grow into adults with a lifelong passion for learning.

BookMode does this by giving each child in a classroom their very own Kindle Paperwhite and Bluetooth headset to keep. Each Kindle comes with 1 year subscription of Amazon Kids+ with access to thousands of books in English and Spanish.

We believe that if a child is excited about reading at a young age, then they will discover the inexhaustible magic, hope, and wonder that can be found in a simple moment of time immersed in an amazing story.

Our pilot program is underway at Sierra House Elementary School. We are fundraising to bring this program to Bijou, Tahoe Valley and Meyers Elementary school next year! It's costs about $8,000 per school. Every dollar donated will go directly to purchasing kindles for students.
