At Color My Outdoors, we’re rewriting the outdoor narrative to center and celebrate the experiences of Communities of Color. For too long, mainstream stories have excluded People of Color from the outdoors, erasing our cultural and ancestral ties to Mother Nature.

That’s why we’re proud to partner with Gateway Nature Preserve—a vibrant, culturally grounded green space in the heart of Winston-Salem, committed to inclusive access and community connection. Together, we’re creating a retreat that gives Women of Color, especially mothers, the chance to breathe, reflect, and reconnect with nature while also strengthening ties between Gateway and the communities it serves.

Our shared goals are simple but powerful: to restore and nourish, to spark meaningful conversations and collaborations, to uplift Gateway’s vision as a welcoming nature space, and to amplify its impact by bringing more families and influencers into the fold.
