Our community’s public school needs us now more than ever. Changes at the state-wide level have put increasing pressure on classrooms.

While public funding provides the foundation, it no longer covers everything our students and teachers need to thrive.

Putting Resources Closer to the Classroom

The Brentwood Teacher Fund allows families to invest directly in the resources teachers identify as most important to improving students’ everyday learning experience.

Our goal is to give our school more financial flexibility as needs arise, direct more resources into our classrooms, and give families greater visibility into the impact of their support.

✦ What will it cover?

$15,000: Classroom Supplies – $300 stipend for every teacher

$10,000: Teacher Appreciation – Snack Carts, Teacher Appreciation Week, and staff recognition

Remaining: Teacher-Directed Fund – Flexible funding that empowers teachers to invest where they see the greatest need, including things like classroom enrichment, instructional resources, campus experiences, teacher support, and supplies

✦ But will I be asked to give at other times in the year?
Our goal is to limit asks, but there will be some others over the course of the year. Classroom teacher birthday and holiday gifts, as well as our annual ancillary staff holiday gift collection, must continue to be coordinated separately by room parents*.

In the spring, we'll launch a campaign to help cover next year's salaries for specific teacher and staff positions—including specialist and coaching roles—that are no longer funded by AISD. We hope to run the campaign ourselves, rather than outsourcing to a third-party vendor, and find thoughtful ways to involve students along the way.

*Because the PTA is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization, it cannot collect or distribute funds intended as personal gifts to individual staff members.

✦ Who decides where the money goes?
Some funding has a clear purpose from the start, including individual classroom supply stipends and PTA-led teacher appreciation efforts. The remaining flexible funds will  be directed by Brentwood teachers and staff to provide the resources and experiences deemed most valuable to students and classrooms.

The PTA will manage the funds and work in partnership with teachers to turn those priorities into investments for our school.

Brentwood PTA is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization and contributions are tax-deductible.

Many employers also offer matching gift programs, which can double—or even triple—the impact of your donation. Families may also choose to give through a donor-advised fund (DAF).
