Every Peekskill Scholar deserves a laptop of their own.

A laptop is not a luxury for a student. It is the classroom, the library, the application portal and the job search — all in one. Assignments are submitted online. Financial aid is filed online. Internships are applied for online. A student without a working computer is not a little behind. They are locked out.

Through Bridging the Digital Divide, The Blue Resource Table puts working laptops into the hands of Peekskill Scholars. And we match the machine to the moment the student is in.

High school students receive refurbished laptops.

For a student still at home, a solidly refurbished machine does the job. Homework, research, college applications, FAFSA. It keeps good hardware out of a landfill, and at $300 a unit it means the same dollar reaches more students. A high schooler with a working computer on the kitchen table is a high schooler who can apply anywhere.

College students receive brand-new laptops.

A scholar who leaves Peekskill for a campus two hours away is in a different situation entirely. There is no family desktop down the hall. There is no one to borrow from at midnight before a deadline. That laptop is running lab software, video calls with professors, group projects, work-study and four years of coursework — usually as the only computer they own.

A hand-me-down does not hold up to that. So our college scholars get a new machine, under warranty, with a full lifespan ahead of it. It costs more. It is worth it. A student who has earned her seat should not have to fight for the tools to keep it.

The first laptop will be presented on August 18, 2026, at our First Annual Benefit Dinner. We want the rest funded before the semester starts.

$600 — a brand-new laptop for a college scholar
$1,200 — equips two scholars, one in high school and one in college

Why this matters here

Our Founder has served Peekskill youth for more than a decade. We know these students by name. We know their families. We watch the same young person come through our Back to School Supply Giveaway in elementary school, sit in our workshops in high school, and walk across a stage with a scholarship in hand.

Bridging the Digital Divide is how we make sure that walk does not end at the campus gate.
