Today, it sits silent.

But together, we can bring it back to life.

At The Dickinson Music Enrichment Center (TDMEC), we provide free music education to underserved youth across Galveston County. Now, we’re leading the effort to restore this historic theatre and transform it into:

The Ziyanna Jones Harbour Playhouse of the Arts—a permanent home for youth music, theatre, and community performances.

This project honors Ziyanna Jones, a young musician and mentor whose life was taken too soon—but whose impact continues through every student we serve.

PHASE 1 – STABILIZATION & DRY-IN REPORT

Purpose

This phase stabilizes the Harbour Playhouse and prevents further deterioration by securing the building envelope and replacing the failed roof system.

Scope of Work

Engineering and environmental assessments (donated services).
Limited architectural design and permitting for roof and safety scope.
Site stabilization including fencing, boarding, and temporary shoring.
Targeted asbestos and mold abatement in affected areas.
Selective interior demolition to expose roof structure.
Full roof replacement including decking, flashing, and drainage.
Emergency structural repairs for compromised framing and supports.
