Why We're Raising Money

For decades, the Bob Marley mural at Cafe Negril was more than just a painting—it was a landmark. Originally created in 1990 by New Orleans artist Dwayne Conrad, the mural became a symbol of music, culture, community, and the spirit of Frenchmen Street.

When building and fire code requirements forced the mural to be covered, many people believed it was lost forever.

In 2026, with the support of friends, musicians, neighbors, and visitors from around the world, we began the journey of bringing Bob back.

While community donations helped make the recreation possible, the project has cost significantly more than the funds raised through our initial campaign. Expenses have included artist compensation, materials, mounting systems, installation, preservation measures, event costs, and ongoing maintenance to ensure the mural remains a lasting part of New Orleans culture for years to come.

Your support helps us complete this project responsibly and preserve it for future generations.

Cultural programming and special events celebrating music and art on Frenchmen Street

As a thank you, supporters who contribute $250 or more will receive a personalized 2" x 4" commemorative plaque permanently displayed on our Supporters Wall beside the mural.
