We have a very special opportunity to bring the Great Elephant Migration public art exhibit to the San Francisco Bay Area - the only stop on the West Coast in 2026! The herd is on the move with 30 life-sized elephant sculptures due to arrive in Downtown Livermore this October through November.

About The Exhibit

The Great Elephant Migration is a global public art and conservation project featuring life-sized Asian elephant sculptures. The herd's journey across American serves as a poignant metaphor for human-wildlife coexistence, raising millions to fund conservation efforts that protect migratory animals.

The sculptures are entirely woven from Lantana Camara, an aggressive invasive weed that is choking forest floors and pushing animals out of their natural habitats. By harvesting this weed to build the herd, the artisans directly help restore native habitats for the elephants. Each of the sculptures is a precise replica of a living, breathing wild elephant in India. The elephants were carefully crafted by The Coexistence Collective, a community of 200 Indigenous artisans from the Nilgiri Biosphere Reserve in South India.

The Journey

The herd has previously traveled across the United States, stopping at iconic locations to transform public spaces into symbols of shared habitat and empathy.

Newport, Rhode Island: Kicked off the U.S. tour
New York City & Miami: Took over urban centers to highlight the overlap between human and animal realms
Houston, Texas & Jackson Hole, Wyoming: Traveled through the plains and mountains
Los Angeles, California: Concluded the tour with a grand wrap-up and ceremonies, honoring both the environment and diasporic textile traditions

We are now planning to host 30 of these elephants in Livermore, CA for a 2-month exhibition from October through November 2026.

The exhibit will be free and accessible to all.
