At Big Sister Little Sister Mentoring Program (BSLS), scholarships are not one-size-fits-all. They exist to recognize leadership and service, support academic and professional growth, and provide stability during pivotal moments.

This year-round scholarship fund supports both current BSLS members and alumni. For members, scholarships may support educational goals, leadership development, service, or academic focus areas. For alumni, scholarships may also help cover critical gap expenses during times of financial strain, because continued success sometimes depends on short-term support.

What are the BSLS Scholarships this fund will support:

Shakhia Brianna Randall Legacy Scholarship

Purpose: The Shakhia Brianna Randall Legacy Scholarship was created to honor the life, light, and legacy of Shakhia Brianna Randall. This scholarship exists to support BSLS members and alumni who reflect the character, values, and spirit Shakhia embodied, while providing meaningful financial assistance during pivotal moments of growth, transition, or need.

This award recognizes that leadership, resilience, and purpose show up in many forms, not only academic pathways. The scholarship is designed to meet recipients where they are and support their continued journey forward.

Catalyst in STEAM Scholarship

Purpose: Recognizes a sister who sparks change and innovation in science, technology, engineering, arts, or mathematics, while inspiring and mentoring others.

Alumni Impact Scholarship

Purpose: Recognizes a BSLS alumna who actively mentors current sisters, contributes to BSLS programs or initiatives, and creates measurable impact in her community. This scholarship highlights alumni who extend the Big Sister Little Sister Mentoring Program mission beyond graduation by cultivating growth, leadership, and empowerment in others.

First Generation Scholarship

Purpose: The First Generation Scholarship supports BSLS members and alumni who are the first in their families to pursue higher education or professional pathways. This scholarship helps remove financial barriers, affirms resilience, and provides support during key moments of transition as recipients navigate spaces they are creating access to for the first time.

Scholarship applications open for members and alumni March 1st - May 31st, stay tuned by ensuring you are subscribed in our member newsletter, email info@bigsisterlittlesister.org and following us on Instagram @official_bsls to ensure you are an active member or alumni in it.

A Broad and Inclusive Scholarship Model

This fund supports a range of scholarship pathways, including but not limited to:

Leadership-based scholarships recognizing service and impact
Academic and field-specific scholarships such as STEM and the arts
Service-focused scholarships honoring community involvement
Educational support for members pursuing higher education
Alumni support for essential gap expenses such as housing, utilities, transportation, technology, or other critical needs

By design, this model meets members and alumni where they are and acknowledges that achievement and need can coexist.
