For the past six years I’ve been working toward a vision that brings together land, horses, community, and purpose.

The dream is Rocking Star Ranch, a small working ranch near Las Vegas, New Mexico that will operate both as a guest ranch and as a nonprofit program supporting people in life transitions — veterans, individuals in recovery, and young adults aging out of foster care.

The ranch will offer camping, cabins, trail rides, and pack trips into the mountains while also creating structured living and work opportunities where people rebuilding their lives can find stability, responsibility, and community.

This idea became deeply personal to me after losing my son to overdose in 2020 following years in recovery. His transition back into everyday life — housing, work, relationships, and the sudden isolation of COVID — became overwhelming.

Since then I’ve asked myself a simple question:

What kind of place might help someone during the hardest stage of rebuilding their life?

Rocking Star Ranch is my answer.

Guests will come to experience the land, horses, and the deep history of northern New Mexico.

The ranch will include:

• tent and RV camping

• horse camping

• rustic cabins or glamping

• guided trail rides

• multi-day pack trips

• gardens and farm animals

• campfire gatherings and storytelling

The culture of the ranch will reflect the traditions of the region — Indigenous history, cowboy culture, and the rich stories of Las Vegas, New Mexico.

But the heart of the ranch is the people who live and work there.

Residents in the nonprofit program will help care for animals, land, gardens, and guests while developing real-world skills, structure, and community.

The business side supports the program financially, while the program itself strengthens the ranch through meaningful work and shared purpose.

This campaign is helping build the foundation needed to make the ranch possible.

Funds will help cover:

• formation of the nonprofit organization

• legal and accounting setup

• grant writing and fundraising development

• early operational planning

• professional advisors

• administrative infrastructure

This is the first step in turning six years of planning into something real.
