Dementia/Alzheimers has affected multiple members of my dad's side of the family, making this cause especially personal to me.When I was younger, I remember visiting my grandma's sister in the care home. My cousin and I would spend time painting her nails, talking with her, and hoping that maybe that day she would recognize us or want to share a conversation. Even when she didn't know who we were, those visits were meaningful and taught me the importance of showing up for those we love.
As I've gotten older, I've also watched my own grandmother's battle. Seeing the disease slowly take away pieces of someone you love is heartbreaking. I also have friends whose families have experienced the same challenges, reminding me that this disease touches so many lives.
That is why I am honored to be a part of BvB Dallas. Through this organization, I have the opportunity to raise awareness, support critical Alzheimer's research and care, and grow my social circle with others who are equally passionate about making a difference. Every donation helps fund programs that provide hope, support families, and move us closer to a future without Alzheimer's.
