Why an auction & Why go online?

2025 celebrated the 33rd anniversary of the TriCounty Toy Run of Central Texas!

Over these 33 years, there have been so many amazing people involved in so many ways- the riders and clubs of course are the heart and soul of the event, but it takes the sponsors, the volunteers, the vendors, the musicians and the media to pull it all off! We have started and ended rides in different places, had great weather, or some challenging weather, had record breaking attendance, had COVID impacted attendance, sold a whole bunch of tee shirts, given out thousands of pins, and most important of all have made a difference to the children in our TriCounty area for the holidays for 33 fantastic years. Our goal is to keep making that difference for as long as any child needs it.

The saying goes something like "the only constant in life is change". Our lives change, our responsibilities change, and our schedules don't always line up the way we wish.

Because of the changes in technology however, we can set up events like this to provide an opportunity to show their support for someone who is not able to attend in person. We can also use technology to help ensure all the moving parts flow smoothly, without losing the important personal aspects to events like the Toy Run.

Setting this up also gave our volunteers an opportunity to meet even more amazing people and promote the mission of the Toy Run. It has truly been fantastic to experience the generosity and kindness of the business owners and managers in our area. Their donations to this fundraiser are all the start of beautiful friendships for the kids and will be continued as we move forward. ALL ITEMS IN THE AUCTION HAVE BEEN DONATED by the businesses listed on each donation.

Back to Why an Auction... in addition to the above reasons, we are 100% volunteers. An auction appealed as a good (and fun!) test of this programming, so we can centralize a lot of the functions we need to handle. There are a lot of moving parts in doing the Toy Run each year. and one glitch can cause major scrambling to get things covered.

This type of technology will help us with continuity as volunteers come and go because of those life changes. Transitions in key roles are tough. We don't want to lose touch with any of the amazing people we've worked with over the years because the right spreadsheet didn't get to the right person when someone had to move on. Software like this program can help a lot - and not just because it solves a lot of the issues about payment types (this takes just about every form of payment easily!)

Thank you so much for your involvement with the TriCounty Toy Run of Central Texas - the generosity and kindness of all of you is truly awe inspiring, and even if the kids who receive their Christmas wishes never really know how it came about, we do. It is because of you!
