16 Dollars. 16 Years. 1,600 Lives.

A campaign by Yadestiny Treasure Chest

“It’s not a Hand Me Down — it’s a Turn-Around.”

Sixteen years ago, a woman named Karyne Tinord had a simple but powerful idea: what if we could change the way Brooklyn’s youth see themselves — starting with what they wear?

That idea became Yadestiny Treasure Chest — a nonprofit that has spent 16 years providing clothing, mentorship, entrepreneurship programs, media opportunities, and wellness support to young people in Brooklyn and beyond. We didn’t hand things down. We turned them around.

This year, we turn 16. And we’re celebrating the only way we know how — by serving more young people than ever before.

Our Mission

To clothe, mentor, and empower youth through sustainable fashion, entrepreneurship, media, health, and community — building confident young people who are ready to show up for themselves and the world.

The Ask

This September, we’re launching our Sweet Sixteen campaign with one simple ask:

Donate $16.

$16 x 1,600 donors = 1,600 young people clothed and served before December 31, 2026.

Can’t give $16? Give what you can. Want to give more? We’ll celebrate you for it. Every dollar goes directly to clothing and serving the youth in our community.

What Your Donation Does

$16 — provides a clothing item for one young person who needs it

Every piece of clothing we provide comes with dignity, care, and the message that they matter

$32 — outfits one young person from head to toe

Because confidence starts with feeling good in what you’re wearing

$160 — supports one youth through YTC’s mentorship and entrepreneurship programming

Skills, community, and the tools to build something real

$1,600 — helps YTC serve 100 young people

A transformational gift that moves us significantly toward our goal of 1,600

$16,000 — funds YTC’s full mission for a quarter

A legacy gift that changes the trajectory of what’s possible for our youth

16 Years of Turning Things Around

In 16 years, YTC has:

Clothed and served thousands of youth across Brooklyn
Launched youth entrepreneurship programs that have helped young people start real businesses
Hosted events, workshops, pop-ups, and activations that center youth voice and creativity
Built a community of volunteers, donors, partners, and supporters who believe in Brooklyn’s young people
Produced the Turn-Around Podcast, Hidden Treasures Spotlights, and media programming that amplifies youth stories

None of this happened alone. It happened because of people like you.
