Great Lakes Rabbit Sanctuary is excited to announce the creation of a GLRS Alumni Calendar, and we want your bun to be a part of it!

Starting Friday, August 22nd at 6:00am EST to Sunday, August 24th at 6:00pm EST, we will have open bidding for GLRS Alum-bun caretakers to feature their bun (or buns!) as the CoverBun of our upcoming calendar!

Ready to bid? Go to the top of this page and click "Auction," then "2025 GLRS CoverBun Spot" to sign up and bid!

We will reach out to the silent auction winner to confirm a short bio and 2-3 photos of their GLRS Alumni CoverBun for our Front Cover and inside Front Cover page.

And if you don't win the CoverBun spot, don't fret!

We will be sharing details soon on how to be featured in one of our 12-month calendar spots!

Since 1995, Great Lakes Rabbit Sanctuary (GLRS) has provided a safe haven for abandoned, abused, and neglected animals. We were formerly known as “PigHoppers,” rescuing various breeds of pigs, rabbits, and other animal. In 2003, finding that there was an overwhelming need in our area to provide for domestic rabbits in particular, we changed our name and focus to domestic rabbits.

We rescue rabbits from all across Michigan, and when able, from other areas of the United States as well. Upon their arrival at GLRS the rabbits are given medical care if needed and are spayed or neutered, after which they are ready to meet their potential adoptors! GLRS is a no-kill facility. Those rabbits who are not eligible for adoption, either due to health or temperament, live out their lives peacefully at the sanctuary.

In addition to providing a safe and loving environment, GLRS also strives to educate the public about domestic rabbits, including rabbit care and behavior. Just as with cats and dogs, a rabbit may not be the best furry companion for a family. Our hope is that our educational efforts will mean fewer rabbits needing our help in the future.
