From Dan, Host of Bourbon & Brass

“My career began in classical music, moved to wine and restaurants, then to whiskey. I was an orchestral musician in New Orleans, and traveled around the US and Asia for 10 years before receiving my Sommelier certifications, moving to Kentucky and following the path to bourbon. The key skill I learned from my music career is the ability to balance unique voices into a final product that is far greater than the individual components.”

At the Louisville Academy of Music (LAM), we believe music belongs to everyone. For over 70 years, we've welcomed students of all ages and levels (over 1,000 annually!) offering lessons, group classes, and enriching educational opportunities that spark creativity, build confidence, and develop lifelong skills and relationships.

What sets LAM apart is our community, both within our school and across greater Louisville, where we now reach families in 50+ zip codes. Our programs foster lasting connections between students, families, teachers, and partners: creating a unique learning environment that embraces growth over perfection.

Thanks to our community partners, our venue, food, and bourbon will be partially or fully donated. Attending Bourbon & Brass directly helps us sustain and support our mission, our facilities, our faculty, and our school.

Thank you for supporting LAM and ensuring music education continues to inspire, unite, and thrive in Louisville.
