Local Heroes Awards Night & Auction proceeds to support our efforts to fight food insecurity, promote nutrition, and increase food access throughout the South Shore, with a strategic focus on children and the elderly who are at higher risk of adverse health, mental health, academic, and developmental outcomes due to hunger.

BETTER TOGETHER - THROUGH COLLABORATION AND PARTNERSHIP, SOUTH SHORE COMMUNITY ACTION COUNCIL:

fights hunger and promotes food security to ensure our children, elders, and families have the food they need to maintain their health and well-being
fosters the intellectual curiosity and social/emotional growth for children in our communities in vibrant early education and childcare centers, enabling parents to work to support their families
keeps our neighbors warm and reduces their utility bills so they do not have to make the difficult choice between paying for food, prescriptions, and utilities
ensures health care access for older adults and individuals with disabilities through safe, reliable door-to-door transportation
maximizes income so households can pay down debt, make ends meet, and build savings for the future
