For individuals and families facing addiction, homelessness, crisis, and other life-controlling circumstances, hope can sometimes feel distant. The Dream Center exists to help change that story by providing a place of refuge, restoration, opportunity, and renewed purpose.

Through residential recovery, outreach, discipleship, life-skills development, and compassionate support, men and women are discovering that their past does not have to determine their future. Lives are being restored, families are being strengthened, and dreams that once seemed lost are becoming possible again.

This year's theme reminds us that no one reaches a better tomorrow alone. Sometimes hope is strengthened because someone chooses to stand beside us, believe in us, invest in us, and help shield us during life's most difficult seasons.

We are honored to welcome Kenny Vaughan, founder of Shields of Strength, as our keynote speaker for this year's Night of Dreams Gala. Kenny's message of faith, courage, perseverance, and strength beautifully reflects the heart behind S.H.I.E.L.D.S. and the work taking place every day through the Dream Center.

John Kennedy Vaughan, or Kenny, as we know him here locally, is a popular social media influencer, a world-class athlete, a sought-after inspirational speaker, a husband, a father of three, and a Christian author. His latest book, "The Right Fight: How To Live a Loving Life," continues to be a best seller on Amazon.

Kenny is the founder and CEO of Shields of Strength, an internationally recognized ministry and company that has impacted millions through faith-based jewelry engraved with Scripture. He has also been featured in national and international media, including CBN, Fox National News, BBC, Associated Press, and a wide range of regional and local news outlets.

In 1996, Vaughan won the national water ski long-jump competition. What began as a personal journey to overcome fear as a national champion water skier became a mission to encourage others through the power of God's Word. His win, against all odds, kicked off his journey to tell his story of faith and fear.

After experiencing the life-changing impact of Scripture, he launched an international outreach based on what he learned that day. Kenny created the first Shields of Strength dog tags, which have encouraged hundreds of thousands of members of the US military, especially following 911, and today continue to encourage men and women in law enforcement and firefighting. They have since been distributed to military personnel, first responders, athletes, and individuals worldwide.

For more than 25 years, Kenny, along with his wife, Tammie, and their children, has dedicated their lives to inspiring people to live with courage, faith, and purpose. Through Shields of Strength, millions of Scripture-engraved dog tags and pieces of jewelry have been shared, bringing hope and encouragement to those facing life's greatest battles.

He lives with his family in Beaumont, TX. Raised fishing and skiing in the waters around Southeast Texas, it seemed natural to him to risk his life to rescue, in those same waters, hundreds of floodwater victims of Hurricanes Harvey and Imelda.

A sought-after speaker, author, and advocate for faith and freedom, Kenny's message challenges people to overcome fear, trust God completely, and fight the right battles with strength that comes from Christ alone.
