We're thrilled to showcase artwork by local artists inspired by the shorebirds of Great Salt Lake and the remarkable migrations that connect Utah’s wetlands to habitats across the Western Hemisphere. These birds depend on a shrinking network of healthy lakes, wetlands, and stopover sites to rest and refuel during journeys that can span thousands of miles.

Sageland Collaborative helps lead the Intermountain West Shorebird Survey in Utah, working with conservation partners, professional biologists, and volunteer birdwatchers to document shorebird populations across Great Salt Lake and other important habitats. The data collected through this 11-state effort will help scientists understand how shorebird distribution and abundance have changed over the past 30 years and guide future habitat management and conservation.
