It’s been a hot and dry one, folks.

But in the face of drought, we're finding opportunity. People are rethinking the lawn and getting interested in native plants and Friends of Coal Creek has been right there with them.

Together, we’ve been growing home gardens, public lands, and neglected corners of our cities and towns into the largest connected pollinator habitat in the West. This year we’ve planted, weeded, restored, improved, and brought more than 265 new habitats into connection with the now-365 acre Coal Creek Pollinator District.

We’ve gotten good at not just cranking out and improving habitat, but in bringing it all together in a network held together by folks like you. Native gardens are our building materials. People are the glue.

This success has got us thinking bigger about what it means to restore nature across an urban/suburban watershed and, as we grow into the future, we believe our next phase will be about proving that this work can nourish healthy communities, healthy land and sustain our nonprofit.

Can’t wait to tell you all about it, but first, let’s have some fun.

Join us at Parsons Farm in Lafayette for a family-friendly afternoon and evening on the banks of Coal Creek, with food, live music, games, a bar, plant mixologist, silent auction, and plenty of opportunities to mix with folks who share your conservation values.

And, of course, we’ll raise some funds to keep the work going.

So, stop by the farm (no pets, please – there are farm animals) and celebrate with old friends and new ones the work you've done -- and we'll keep doing -- to make Coal Creek healthy, resilient and eternal.
