TheatreSquare Art Alliance (TSAA) was founded in 2023 to carry forward the vision of making theatre and the arts accessible to more people in our community. Created as the nonprofit partner of Marietta’s Theatre in the Square, TSAA was born out of a simple but powerful idea: to advance the exposure of theatre and arts to larger audiences through bold, sustainable fundraising and innovative programming.

Marietta's Theatre in the Square has been a cornerstone of Marietta’s cultural life since its revival in 2015 under Executive Artistic Director N. Emil Thomas and his father, Raul Thomas. What began as a leap of faith to restore a beloved theatre has grown into a thriving creative home for multiple resident companies, new works, seasonal musicals, and community-focused initiatives. With the formation of TSAA, the mission expanded—ensuring the theatre could not only sustain but also grow its reach, impact, and educational programs.

The Legacy Campaign

In 2025, Theatre in the Square began its celebration of reaching it's 10-year anniversary—a milestone that marks a decade of storytelling, risk-taking, and community-building. To honor this achievement, TheatreSquare Art Alliance has launched the Legacy Campaign, a fundraising initiative with the goal of raising $250,000 by December 2026.

The Legacy Campaign is more than a financial drive; it is a promise to the future. These funds will secure:

Educational Growth – Expanding our flagship programs like the NextGen Internship, Theatre Tech Camp, and Film Camp, which give young artists hands-on training in performance, directing, technical design, and filmmaking.
Production Quality – Upgrading the theatre’s technology, including state-of-the-art sound systems and LED walls, ensuring audiences experience performances at the highest professional level.
Community Engagement – Supporting outreach initiatives, from youth programming to special community events, making theatre a gathering place for all.

Through special events like the Gala, annual golf and kickball tournaments, call-a-thons, and our Winter Gala, the Legacy Campaign creates opportunities for everyone—individual patrons, families, and corporate sponsors—to invest in the future of the arts in Marietta.

Future Plans

Looking ahead, TSAA is committed to building on its momentum and expanding its role as a cultural and educational hub. Our plans include:

Deepening Arts Education – Developing year-round workshops, camps, and residency programs for students and young professionals, making TSAA a training ground for the next generation of artists.
Expanding Productions – Supporting larger-scale productions and original works that blend theatrical tradition with modern innovation, ensuring Theatre in the Square remains a creative leader in the region.
Community Connections – Strengthening partnerships with local schools, businesses, and civic groups to make theatre a shared community asset, not just an entertainment option.
Sustainability and Growth – Establishing long-term financial stability through membership programs, sponsorships, and endowment-building, ensuring TSAA can continue its mission for decades to come.
