Paul Robeson Freedom School in partnership with People 4 People Productions is equipping NYC youth with the 21st-century skills they need to help impact change in our communities. We teach youth how to access, engage, and think critically about media and how to work with their peers to create videos that communicate powerfully, effectively, and in a collective voice to solve many of the community problems we're facing.

Our action plan for the 2023-2024 school year is to combat the negative effects gentrification is having on local small businesses in the Bedford-Stuyvesant section of Brooklyn, New York. Our goal is to build a Bedford-Stuyvesant Community Media Network that raises the visibility of local small businesses, their stories, and the products and services they provide.

By learning smartphone filmmaking students (1) gain a constellation of 21st-century life/tech skills (2) learn how to support the health, wealth, and welfare of our communities, (3) earn community service credits and (4) gain marketable skills youth need to earn a livable wage.
