Paul V. Dannels was born on January 7, 1950, and on March 14, 2020, his mystery ship sailed beyond the sunset after a courageous battle with Bulbar ALS. Diagnosed in January 2019, Paul faced the disease with grace, humility, and unwavering faith. His favorite song, Ride Captain Ride, reflected the hope he carried throughout his journey.

Paul’s story is also a reminder of how quickly ALS changes lives. This devastating disease strikes without warning, giving families only a short time—often just a few years—to hold on to every cherished moment with their loved ones.

Paul’s Mystery Ship To End ALS was created in his honor, continuing the compassion, strength, and love he shared so generously with everyone whose lives he touched. We are dedicated to raising awareness, supporting families facing ALS, offering scholarships to students impacted by neurological diseases, and creating programs that bring comfort and connection to those living with ALS.
