About Future Urban Leaders

Future Urban Leaders is a nonprofit organization dedicated to extending leadership development beyond the classroom for over 150 students in Milwaukee's Lindsay Heights neighborhood, serving grades K4 through 12th. Since 2011, our mission has been to provide enrichment opportunities that promote personal and professional advancement for historically marginalized communities of color. We break down barriers to equal access by focusing on core areas such as Health & Wellness, Arts & Humanities, Academic Enrichment, Service & Leadership, and College & Career Readiness.

Our programs are founded on three core leadership principles:

Discernment: We help students align their purpose, values, and passions to promote individual and community growth.

Justice: We ensure student access to equitable and inclusive systems and emphasize the importance of understanding the impact of justice in our lives.

Empowerment: We foster growth through knowledge acquisition, self-advocacy, self-preservation, and goal-setting while encouraging community support.

About the "Starry Night" Gala

The annual gala is a major fundraising event that directly supports our programs and initiatives. The "Starry Night" theme celebrates the limitless potential of our students as they strive to become tomorrow's leaders. The evening will include a keynote address from one of our inspiring alumni, a showcase of student achievements, and an auction benefiting our programs.
