BeLEAF Survivors houses two very important programs in the Racine, Wisconsin community: Sexual Assault Services (SAS) and Stop Child Abuse & Neglect (SCAN)

SAS provides crisis intervention with a 24/7 helpline for survivors needing assistance and 24/7 hospital response to support survivors after sexual assault. Additional services include therapy and support groups for survivors and their support people, legal, family, and personal advocacy, and community sexual violence prevention and education. All of these are provided at no cost to the participants.

SCAN provides school-based child abuse awareness lessons to children in Racine and Kenosha Counties, including programs for preschool and kindergarten children, and 2nd, 4th, and 6th grade students. These programs aim to reduce child victimization and the stigma of abuse by teaching children to recognize dangerous and abusive situations, distinguish between safe/unsafe touches, say “no” to unwanted advances, encourage children to tell adults about such episodes, and assure children that such incidents are never the fault of the child.
