BETSY’S PARK ANNUAL OPERATING EXPENSES

Thank you for your continued support of Betsy's Park. It's been a wonderful year! The park was
busy through all seasons, with skating, sledding, and paddle tennis in the winter, and families
enjoying the playground, beach, hiking trails, and pickleball courts throughout the summer. We
hosted swimming and fishing lessons for kids and special community nights featuring Gusto's
Pizza Truck and a concert by the New Hampshire Music Festival.
Our motel and cabins also played an important role, housing employees from the Squam Lakes
Association, Science Center, and the Newfound Lake Association. We're deeply grateful to
everyone who joined our monthly volunteer nights. Your hands and hearts keep the park vibrant.
This year also marked major progress in park development. We completed construction of a new
garage and Brooke House, a beautiful, fully accessible community center with a wood stove,
kitchen, and bathrooms near the pond. Visitors can now lace up skates and warm up in comfort,
just steps from the ice. Thank you to all who attended the Brooke House Grand Opening in Sep.
tember. Finally, we celebrated the gift of a four-acre parcel abutting the Park, an extraordinarily
generous donation from a neighbor. We look forward to adding new walking trails in the coming
year.
Many of you have spontaneously supported Betsy's Park on an annual basis, for which we are
very grateful. As we celebrate our sixth year, we need to formally ask for annual support to fund
our ongoing and growing costs of building maintenance, landscaping and general caretaking. So
this year we are hoping you will consider a year-end gift to Betsy's Park to help us cover our in-
creasing expenses. Your donation ensures that Betsy's Park remains open, welcoming, and well
cared for all year long.

BETSY’S PARK FOUNDATION MISSION

Betsy’s Park is a joyful place where watershed community members of all ages can enjoy play, exercise and quiet reflection in healthy natural surroundings. It offers the Squam community well-planned natural spaces for both robust outdoor play and calm inward reflection. Park landscaping enhances the site’s natural features and includes road-buffering berms and indigenous plantings. Park goers will enjoy a playground, beachside meditation area, a memorial sculpture, natural rock reflection area with a flowing water feature, fire pit, walking trails through the eight-acre site, paddle tennis and two pickle ball courts. In the winter, Betsy’s Park will offer sledding, ice skating, cross-country skiing and snowshoeing.

This low-impact park sited on White Oak Pond in Holderness, NH has been created to honor Betsy O’Leary Abelson’s adventurous spirit, love of the outdoors and love for community. The park offers spaces for the Squam Watershed community to participate in many of the activities in which Betsy found both excitement and peace, and it provides a natural, lovely setting for the thing that she valued most – spending time with family and friends.

To best commemorate Betsy and honor her passion for leading an active, balanced, and healthy lifestyle, her family, friends, and generous donors came together to purchase a 1940s-era motel property on White Oak Pond and create Betsy’s Park, a low-impact community green space.
