In the spring of 2023, we went with a group of our friends to a nearby sports bar to watch the University of Minnesota Gophers Softball team play in the national tournament. After not seeing the game on any of the 20+ televisions, we asked the bartender if they could get it on one of the many screens, which were currently playing everything from football game reruns to a cornhole tournament.

We stopped to ask ourselves,

WHAT IF IT WAS DIFFERENT?

What if women’s sports fans had a place to come together and cheer loudly for their favorite team on the biggest screen in the bar...with the sound on?

What if those same fans had a wide variety of food and beverage options, including a robust menu accommodating different dietary needs with a killer craft beer selection and tasty mocktails?

What if they had A Bar of Their Own?

We are thrilled to bring you Minnesota’s first sports bar dedicated exclusively to women’s sports, coming soon to the Twin Cities, and we need your help! We envision A Bar of Their Own being an inclusive, family-friendly location for anyone who loves--or wants to love!--women's sports, and we know there are many others who share this vision with us.

Typically, the first question we get is "where is it going to be located?" And the answer is...we're working on it! A big lesson for us with commercial real estate has been that most landlords require 6 months of operating expenses (which can be upwards of $500,000!) before they will even consider a tenant application. While we are working on traditional financing and small business loans, we are also looking for the support of our community to bring this space to life.

We are seeking $200,000 to put towards securing our location, stocking up on inventory, purchasing equipment and supplies, and paying our incredible team of servers, cooks, and bartenders. Bringing this dream to reality will cost much more than that, so even if our goal is met, we ask that you keep your generosity coming. Any money raised beyond our goal will be key in securing the immense amount of working capital required to get this thing going!
