I've been wanting to do this for-EV-er. I mean... why should kids have all the fun? We hear it all the time...

"I wish there had been something like this when I was a kid." (Look at you in the Amen pew. So do we.)

" I loved going to the dances you call, but I'm too old now." (Hehehehe... not any more!)

"My prom was "meh." Everyone stood around and judged the other girls' dresses. (Not me, but I'm pretty sure I was on the receiving end of that game.)

"Wish I could have a prom do-over with my husband instead of that jerk I went with." (Preaching to the choir, you are.)

"Our kids have SO MUCH FUN at your dances. When are you going to do one for us?"

Why is it that we stop doing fun things after high school? Have you noticed? Parents pour all this time, money, effort, applause, and glory into kids' activities, award banquets, ceremonies, trophies, pomp, and all the rest of it. Then suddenly the bar clamps down and there's no more. It happens either after high school or college, and the message is clear. "You might have been something back then, but it's time to settle down and ADULT, and that means NO MORE FUN for you!"

PS This dance doubles as our first annual fundraiser for Steps In Time. Having a little extra working capital means we can more easily put downpayments on venues, procure decorations and equipment, and have a nest egg so we can absorb the risk of keeping prices for the Homeschool Homecoming (and future Homeschool Prom!) as low as possible.
